EVENING MIXED FLOORBALL COMPETITIONS
SCEGGS Darlinghurst: 215 Forbes Street, Darlinghurst
- Thursday evening mixed floorball competition
This venue provides the use of shower and changing facilities. Games are played between 6.30 p.m. and 9.00 p.m.
Teams are 5 -a-side (mixed), with a maximum of 3 males on court at any time.
The competition is of a social standard with players of all abilities participating in teams together.
Floorball is a mass participation version of ice hockey with blends of soccer and hockey mixed in for safe, fast action. Originating in Europe, it is the fastest growing sport in the world, now nominated for the Olympics.
The game is simple: the object is to score a goal using the Floorball stick. Players may not raise the sticks above their knees, so very few injuries occur. Players may not have contact with opponent's sticks except at the blade area, and pushing or blocking opponents is not allowed. All players attack and defend.
Sticks are between 80 - 100 cm, and can be left or right hooked. The ball is hollow and made of plastic, weighs 23 grams and has 26 holes. Intrinsic Sports will provide all equipment: sticks, ball and goals (although some players may prefer to purchase their own stick).
Floorball is played on a specially marked rink (20 m x 40m), which is 50 cm high and curved at the top.
